Anticipating the Drama

Champions League titles, lifelong bans, and even jail time are written in the history of Real Madrid vs Valencia. The landmark 2000 European Cup Final in Paris, where Los Blancos defeated Valencia 3‑0, was more than just a trophy win; it set the tone for a rivalry defined by chaos, high stakes, and fierce competition. In recent years, when the two clubs meet, the games have even been politically and racially charged, with three Valencianistas sentenced to eight months in jail for racist comments against Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.

Today, the two clubs will meet at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Valencia having defeated Real Madrid earlier this year during the 2024/25 La Liga season. With the scoreline typically unpredictable against Valencia, Madridistas are still confident ahead of the match. This new season brings a fresh start to the team under Xabi Alonso, and with the showcase of Kylian Mbappe’s golden boot before the match, Los Blancos gain a boost of confidence.

The first half was full of excitement and 70% domination by Real Madrid despite a missed penalty by Vinicius Jr.. With two goals by Kylian Mbappe and a Jude Bellingham stunner from outside the box, Real Madrid are playing some of their best football this season. The first half ends with Real Madrid up by 3 goals and the Madridistas are content, but aware the second half is a whole new game.

The second half of the game lacked in many ways as the first half momentum fizzled out. Alongside Carreras’ late screamer, the most exciting part of the half was that Endrick was finally given his first minutes of the season by Xabi Alonso. As he entered the pitch he was welcomed warmly by the Madridistas.

The highly anticipated clash ended in a 4-0 win for Real Madrid, but lacked the drama fans were highly anticipating. Los Blancos were in complete control throughout the game and showcased the new and improved style of play under Xabi Alonso.

While the match wasn’t full of drama like the previous games, it showed Madridistas that Real Madrid are in control and are here to win. This year won’t be a repeat of the last; they’re gunning to reclaim their title as the best team in the world.
